As always I am playing a bit of catch-up here and have finally got around to updating the blog with my post for Budapest. One of my best friends and certainly my biggest travel buddy wanted to do one small trip away before I disappeared off to New Zealand and we had always talked about heading to Budapest. Since flights were disgustingly cheap we booked it, so a few weeks later off we went! Continue reading Budapest
If you’ve been following the blog recently, then I’m sure you’ll be aware of the fact that mentally I have not been doing great. I’m trying my best to pull through and if I’ve learnt anything from this experience is that no matter what happens I know I have some really great people in my life that will always be there to help out. Yes this is sounding like the start of one those terrible “chick-flick” movies but honestly it got me thinking about some of the brilliant times I’ve had. 7 years ago I was having the time of my life in Nepal and India, exploring the Himalaya and Rajasthan. 5 years ago I was at a river party on the Seine in Paris that was broken up by police. Since then I’ve had even more great memories and it got me thinking about one great weekend I had recently in Riga, Latvia. Continue reading Riga
By all accounts I’m a pretty young guy who has lead what a good number of people would consider a privileged life. I am not about to deny it. I consider the ability to travel and see the world as a luxury that not everyone has the time or money to do. I’m not in a position to travel indefinitely but if I could I would! I’m happiest when I’m on the move and I feel so relaxed when just literally slotting into the world and watching every bit of it zoom past me; taking it all in at my own pace – preferably with a cold beer and good company.
I’m a massive fan of street art. I love finding what people have created and I’m always bowled over at the talent and the life and character that it gives a place. Below are some of my favourite pieces – whether they are murals, paintings, sculptures or even just a snapshot of life that I’ve found on my travels.
I love taking photos and one of my favourite types is the panorama. Trying to capture a whole scene and getting that cool fish eye effect to me is really awesome. Below are some of my favourite panoramas from my travels. All were taken on an iPhone 5. They don’t quite capture how great some of these places are but they look cool nonetheless. I hope you enjoy them and for the hell of it let’s see who can tell me where these are from!
Rome. A city founded 750 years before Christ and if the legend is to be believed by the two brothers Romulus and Remus who were raised by wolves. However, when deciding what to name their new founded city, one brother killed the other and named it after himself. I’ll let you guess which one. Of course an empire founded on fratricide that covered most of modern day Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East was going to have a brutally bloody, yet interesting history. I made the mistake of assuming that being the capital seat of the Roman Empire, that the city would be larger than it is.
