Aguas Calientes

Nestled in the Peruvian hills of the Cuzco Region; Aguas Calientes is the gateway for thousands of people to explore the famous ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. Situated at an elevation of 2,040 m and on the Urubamba River the town is surrounded by lush forests and steep valley sides. Quite simply it was one of the most picturesque places I have ever been and quite possibly my favourite little town of Peru. Continue reading Aguas Calientes


The first pit stop on my South American adventure. Arequipa – known as the White City for it’s use of pale volcanic rock in all it’s buildings; is a city flanked by 6,000 m volcanoes and is the most common place to stop off on route to the Colca Canyon.
