Aguas Calientes

Nestled in the Peruvian hills of the Cuzco Region; Aguas Calientes is the gateway for thousands of people to explore the famous ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. Situated at an elevation of 2,040 m and on the Urubamba River the town is surrounded by lush forests and steep valley sides. Colca Canyon

Colca Canyon slices through the High Andes for more than 100km. It is shade shallower than nearby Cotahuasi Canyon at 3,400m at its deepest. This makes it almost twice as deep as the more famed Grand Canyon in the USA. This is what I spent three days trekking through. Needless to say it was pretty darn epic. Continue reading Colca Canyon
